Description
This scene shows a semi-rural/industrial landscape. The imposing cooling towers in the background sit on the edge of the River Tyne dominating the line of houses in the middle foreground. In the near foreground is a grazing Traveller’s horse. These three topics emphasise the complex inter-relationships of the semi-industrial/rural environment of the North East.
This painting includes one of the working sketches used by Richard when developing the painting.
