Description
This painting shows new spring lambs, with sheep probably waiting to give birth in the background. On the pinnacle of the roof of the shed is the ever-present opportunistic crow, waiting for carrion and as with other of Richard’s works, contrasts the struggles of farming in remote Northumberland. The contrast of the black and white colour depicts this vividly.
