Description
This painting shows a typical forest area in Northumberland with the dead indigenous birch tree and the young conifers, which have been recently planted taking over the normal terrain of the birch. While dead, the silver birch tree creates an attractive shape and form.
This painting includes one of the working sketches used by Richard when developing the painting.
