Description

With this painting, Richard wanted to emphasise the opportunistic herring gull which he regarded as the carrion crow of the sea, preying upon a dying industry.  This is shown as a metaphor for the change which had occurred on the River Tyne.
This painting includes one of the photographs used by Richard to help inform the setup of the composition.
