Description
In the distance can be seen the white sails of the yachts taking part in a race at Blyth. Although the sails are impressionistic, they can be clearly seen because of the use of colour and shape in the painting. Regular races are held in Blyth and frequently take in areas such as Holy Island (Lindisfarne) and the Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth.
This painting includes one of the working sketches used by Richard when developing the painting.
